I have had eczema since at least the age of 3 and I am 32 now. My face in the last year has gotten to the point where most times I can not go outside. I have seen many doctors all who recommend the same type of steroids over and over. They clear me up and in weeks its back and sometimes worse.

I have found that since I am now eating healthier, no refined or processed foods, I cut my dairy, and am eating less meat, and no 'white' carbs; I not only feel better but my skin is also better in all areas. The eczema I have often hits hard in regions behind the knee, upper groin, and face, neck and chest. My arms suffer, I get weepy blister type of bumpies on my fingers, it is all very stressful. Working out and eating right, getting good sleep, and meditation has helped me more than doctors have in the many years I saw them. Sometimes a glass of wine dinner is just what the doctor ordered!

Ive had eczema on my cheeks for the last 5 years . I can now control breakouts and my skin is much better. From my experience , these are things you should avoid: long hot showers, contact to itchy woollen fabric, soaps, hot weather ,laundry detergents that are strong, humidity and stress ,certain foods and trying different fragrant products on skin. Just wipe your face with a cotton swab soaked with cool water at regular intervals and your skin should feel good.Always drink enough water and stay in a cool environment. If eczema is severe you may get food allergies because of it.

Eczema, is triggered by food sensitivity ( and or allergies), stress, and climate changes. I manage my break-outs with Aquaphor ointment, an allergy pill (Benadryl or Zertec) and for instant soothing relief so I can face people in public 'Maybelline Instant Age Rewind' (Really! something in this stuff works to instantly sooth the burning and itching, and plus it hides it...find one to match your skin tone and try it !

Soybunny, eczema is triggered by allergies too and if you eat alot of Soy, that might be triggering some of your break-outs, I agree with the too much sugar and carb thing. Food sensitivity is a real trigger for break-outs, my son when he was a baby had to be on a soyfree formula. :)

I believe those of us who suffer with eczema have some sort of food allergies. For years our family lived in an area where the climate was dry, (Colorado) and I only had it break out on the insides of my elbows. It was when we moved to the rainy, humid Northwest that my condition became worse and the break-outs went to my face. When I go back to visit family the facial eczema goes away! and doesnt return till I go back home.

Hi Annmarie,
Iv had facial eczema for 20 years, what helps me when its really bad is to take a benedryl to stop the intense itching and apply aquaphor ointment (made by Eucerin), if possible take a 30-60 minute nap. If I cannot nap and have to go to work I apply Maybelline Instant Age rewind. This stuff is amazing! I get soothing relief from the burning and itching within minutes! and it hides the redness! Hope this helps.

mine started up again. Under my eyes and on my cheeks, and around my chin. Also got a cold sore. I've been depressed and have been getting terrible sleep and not eating as healthy. Too many carbs and starch, not enough water. I started using an acne face wash called Oxy on a celloluse face sponge. Used a face moisturizer...
What always worked for me in the past was OLIVE OIL. it HEALS the eczema 100 percent. It does not clog pores! I need to invest in a bottle, sleep better, laugh more, eat healthy, take vitamin E...that always worked for me last summer. I also have sebbhoreic dermatitis on my scalp, which seemed to worsen this season. Used vinegar on my scalp and it feels better. Olive oil is the real winner, and daily exfoliation with a gentle celloluse sponge.

I only get this when I am really stressed or don't get a few good nights of sleep, or I get overheated at night and it causes a flare up on my eyelids and round the mouth, plus I get chapped lips. It usually clears up by having a few days of enough relaxation in the evenings, drinking lots of water, eating lots of fresh fruit & veg and laughing. I find for me, Witch Hazel on cotton wool helps take down the soreness and the skin eventually smooths out so that it just becomes dry skin which can be moisturised. I also try and have lots of oily fish or omega-3 supplements which are good for the skin - this should be all the time, not just when it happens. Mine came up yesterday and you feel like you don't want to face anyone!
